Sunidesus Sees

I really enjoyed this week's Theme Thursday topic. I work at a TV station and am surrounded by technology every day. I bounce between three to four different computers, plus a video switcher all day. This particular picture was taken back in the equipment room. This is just one of three racks of equipment in the room. There's also a server room, a phone line/circuit breaker room, the weather equipment area, plus the controls for three satellite dishes, not to mention the control room itself which has LOTS more equipment. There are more pictures of work in my Photo Album and I'll probably be posting a few more of my theme pictures here in the next couple hours.

Well, that was a lot of verbage for a PHOTOblog!

This is just a small part of the phone system coming into our building. The number of wires just amazes me.

This is Jocko. He's the weekend sports guy at work. I believe he was trying to be the 70's sports guy with this look.

This is my headset at work and the panel that controls it. Very important thing if you're the director! It does help to be able to talk to your crew after all :)

We had an open house at work today. Lots of people and lots of helium balloons. After everyone left we shoved them all into one little room and had fun!

IWTB got down and dirty with them.

After a short "I'm sick and don't feel like doing anything" hiatus. I'm ba-ack! This is a picture I took, changed to black & white, added a single color to, and then added text to. It's patterned after an ad in a TV Technology magazine that I thought was really cool. So I decided to make my own with MY control room.

The sat truck that we get to use every once in a while was at my station a few weeks ago. It had it's mast cam up.

When we went to cover a fire for work I took a bunch of pictures of it and my 2000th picture with my camera was among them. Here it is!

At the work Christmas party. This was after most of the people left, and there were just a handful of us left being goofy and messing around.

The pen was Karen's door prize at the company holiday party. But this isn't an everyday kind of pen. It's a vibrating pen! It came with an interesting diagram and instructions for where to use it to um... well... relieve stress. Remember this was a company party.

What happens when you're bored in a newsroom? You build things with the tapes!

Karen, Billy, and Jes. Billy is this really sweet guy who shows up at all the Special Olympics events. He knows all the people from the station and is just a really nice guy.

I walked into the bathroom at work and saw a huge mess and just had to take a picture!

This is a bar in my city. I don't know exactly what happened, but it was a fire so we went to shoot it!

There was a fire very early this morning just outside of town. We went to go shoot video and of course I took pictures!

This one is the morning producer, Kramer, talking to one of the firefighters.

I realize this doesn't look like a very exceptional moment, but it was! Really!

This guy is Jerry, the 6 and 10pm anchor at work. He always wears slacks, nice shirt, and a tie, ALWAYS. Even when he goes out after the 10, he won't change. At the most he'll take the tie off. So, when he showed up in a t-shirt, I just had to take a picture of the event!

Yesterday was Theme Thursday and now it's Friday which means its time for Photo Friday!

This week is: Frustration

For me frustration is 17 tapes that have to go to 14 cities with 8 different combinations of commercials and 5 different timing sheets. Every. Monday.

That time of week has come around again... the Theme Thursday kind of time.

This week's theme is: Paper

This is only a fraction of the paper we go through at work. This tub was emptied yesterday. And this is for just one room. There's another bin like it in the control room and in the front office. Good thing we recycle!

Being that it's the end of the week there's all kinds of memes happening. I had a hard time coming up with a picture for this week's Photo Friday.

The challenge this week is: Identity

I finally went with this picture, because my identity (for better or worse) is entirely too wrapped up in what I do in this chair.

I helped Joe run some wires under the floor at work Monday night. It's actually a lot of fun messing with the computer floor and playing around under it.

So I'm a little behind, but so what!

This week's PhotoTime theme is: Odd

First get one of those air duster cans. Turn it upside down and spray into a cup of some sort. Liquid will come out.

Collect a bunch of it in a cup. Frost will cover the sides and it'll steam. It's quite interesting looking!

I actually took this last summer. One of the last surviving parts of the old building reflecting the building as it was being torn down.

It's been insanely foggy here the last couple days.

It does interesting things to the colors.

And this would be the de-icked fish tank at work. Right now we have three cherry barbs and two platys. We want to get a couple more but we have to wait for it to do an ammonia cycle thing first or else they'll die. (I'm not real up on my fish tank knowledge)

It also seems pretty likely *crosses fingers* that when the production area is remodeled we're going to get a big salt-water tank in one of the walls. Same Name TD and I are quite excited about that.

A little Phototime action tonight. The theme is: Hands

Mine doing something I'm starting to enjoy again. TD'ing. But I cannot wait until the new control room is finished and I get to use a board that works properly again! This one is literaly older than me, and no I'm not exagerating.

It's time for some Thursday Themeing. This week is: Television

So, my new control room. What? You were expecting something else? Actually pretty soon (by the middle of the summer) there'll be a brand spankin' new control room at the station. I'm really looking forward to that!

Believe it or not we actually use this drive every day, multiple times, at work. I'm going to say it one more time. I can't wait for the new control room.

It's still Tuesday (barely) so here's my PhotoTime submission. The theme this week is: Curves

They're building a brand spanking new control room at work so there's wires and blueprints and new consoles and a new board! all over the place. This green stuff was stretched all through the hallway the other day.

One of the morning guys has a huge flower garden at home and over the past week he's been bringing in some of them. This one's mine! Absolutely beautiful flowers all over the station.

In which I force you to look at pictures of the "Out-of-Towners" Thanksgiving dinner.

For i-gizmo: December 1st, this time of year everyone in television is looking forward to that date. The day "The Book" ends.

A little Lensday action a day late. Some old rusted metal that came out of the inside of the building at work. There's massive remodeling happening at work so there's been lots of fun and interesting picture stuff hanging around. These were some sort of metal grids, some sort of support thing maybe? I don't really know. They just looked cool.

Some Monday Moodiness found around the building at work. A forbidden area upstairs. (not that that stops us from poking around and seeing what's going on anyway)

For Macro Day, the perpetually broken still store. The thing is broken more often than it's working, which of course makes life interesting when a show is as graphics intensive as ours is.

This is Abby Normal, the very hyper 9 month old chocolate lab of one of the female anchors at work. I took a ton of pictures of her, this is one of the only ones in which she's sitting still! There were just so many things to smell and people to greet and what's going on over there?

As always, don't forget about the Ark!

This little guys are hanging out at work. I haven't seen Mom & Dad, but other people at work have. One of them flapped his little wing while I was taking pictures, they're so scrawny and adorable!

I realized yesterday while talking to my best bud that I haven't been doing a lot of the on-line stuff that I used to do all the time. And I miss it. I haven't messed around with my camera in ages. I decided it's high time I work on participating again. So I picked a photomeme to work on today.

And so here we have Macro Day whose theme this week is keys. Being the TV geek that I am I went with the switcher version of a key.

eta: My apologies... it appears my comments have broken. I'm not exactly sure what's wrong with them. Everything seems to be where it's supposed to be... hopefully I'll be able to figure it out soon!

eta #2: All better! There was a random line of code that needed an absolute path instead of a relative one. It's always been relative in the past so I'm not sure what it's problem was but it's working now so no worries!
