Sunidesus Sees

Now that I have everything working, time to post some pictures. It is a photoblog after all. So without further ado, two pictures that I took last night. Both are very long exposures taken at night.

I was wandering around and decided to stop and take a picture of my old high school mascot. He's "Old Abe" the Civil War eagle. He came from my area of Wisconsin and was the mascot for a Civil War regiment from our state.

This is a church in my city, I don't attend it but it has a lovely stained glass window that's lit up for a few hours every night.

Nothing horribly exciting, just my car.

My old glasses, and my new glasses. I just picked them up today (well, technically yesterday). The new ones are the smaller ones. I'm practically blind without them, after this last trip to the eye doctor my eyes are now at 20/600. You know the big E on the eye test chart? It doesn't even exist for me.

I hit my 1000th photo on my cool new digital camera in Phoenix on my way to the convention. It's nothing special, but since it's number 1000 I decided to post it!

I just got my meds refilled and felt a little Artsy-Fartsy, so here's my meds! It may cost me $2/day (or per pill) but it's a small price to pay to stay sane.

I posted this over at Common Threads, but I liked it so much I decided to post it in my own space too! The driver's side mirror of my car. (don't worry I was stopped at a red light when I took the picture) The construction barrels are visible back there, Thankfully the 4+ months of construction is almost over!!!! WOOOOO!!!!

This is possibly the best road sign in the world.

I was driving from work to go vote and saw this hydrant gushing water. There wasn't anyone around, and it was too good to pass up!

I was a good girl and went to vote yesterday. I got a few strange looks while I was snapping pictures of the sign, but that's okay with me.

If anyone is horribly curious, I did indeed vote for the Green Party candidate for WI governor. The rest I hopped between the Dem's and the Republicans. I just couldn't bring myself to vote for either of the main party candidates. So I went with a third party candidate that I respect, like, and agree with on most of the issues.

Anyway... here's my pics for today.

When it's high school tournament time there are always lots of vehicles driving around with messages on them. Especially on Sundays when the team is returning from state! I'm not sure which school or sport this one is for. Might be wrestling but I don't know for certain.

I can spend hours in libraries without any problem. I LOVE books!

At least Syn said it tasted good! I don't drink alcoholic anything so I'll just have to trust her. It sure looked good though.

Last night (or more acurately very early this morning) I finished the main part of my quilt! All the piecing is finished. I just have the border, backing, and stuffing to figure out. Anyone know how to quilt? Know what I should do next? Here's another picture just 'cuz I'm so gosh darn proud of myself.

I posted about how much I like this feeling before.

Every once in a great while my mom makes artichokes. She doesn't like them, and it's always fun when we get them. I went home for dinner special because she was making them for dad and myself.

My first view of the car. I was expecting more damage to the front of it, but I must have gone off the edge and then rolled over to the right. Not munching the front like I thought. The roof is pretty dented, but considering I rolled twice it's really not that bad. Nothing really going inside where I was (thankfully!)

Grass was sticking out of it everywhere, and the police tape is still trailing around it!

I took this a week and a half ago or so. It's the antenna on my car covered with ice.

These three pictures are from me experimenting with a flash trick that I just read about in a photography magazine. It's for taking pictures that need a flash, but the flash washes the whole thing out. Basically you just put a layer, or two, or three of tissue over the flash (not the light sensor though) and take your picture normally.

Here's the first picture, taken with the macro setting, flash turned on, camera 8 or 10 inches from the flowers:

This is the embroidery floss I'm using for a cross-stitch project. I've always liked the rainbow of colors and finally got around to taking a picture of it today.

I love my modem. I'm outside in my hammock, blogging! Best of both worlds. All my geekyness satisfied, but able to enjoy the beautiful day too.

I got a spork with my KFC the other day. And of course I just had to take a picture of it, 'cuz it's a spork!

Boxes, boxes everywhere!

The same room before all the boxes arrived. I'm planning to keep the fids and the bunny in this room. Right in the middle of the apartment, and very easy to clean area too!

It's not quite the same, but I jerry-rigged this in my apartment so I can at least have a little bit of Christmas-y looking stuff around.

A package arrived today from my aunt in California! There was a note inside that said the presents inside had to be opened NOW, not to wait until Christmas. So I did what the note said!

Inside was an ornament and a really cool snowman!

The capitol building in Providence. I was driving around and just thought it looked pretty. There are so many gorgeous buildings here, I really need to just park downtown and wander around taking pictures.

This guy is in front of a building in the historic part of Providence. I don't remember which one or what it was. But he's cool so I took his picture!

This is a building in Providence, at Brown I think. It's from when Mom visited back in February and we were walking around near the Brown campus when I took it.

Methinks that someone didn't want to finish their treat.

I had a hard time coming up with something creative today, so we've got fun with macros and textures!

You know it's getting warmer out when ice cream becomes the norm and the walk-up window is open at the local ice cream place. This was from Newport Creamery which has a restaurant all of 2 blocks from work. We've already been there twice in the past 5 days.

The sprinklers just happened to go haywire at work today creating a perfect chance for some meme-taking.

I saw this car on the other side of the freeway while I was out and about yesterday. The smoke was visible from quite a ways back. Luckily it looked like everyone got out ok.

A few of the many ropes all over the Mayflower II. It's a reproduction of the original Mayflower that's docked in Plymouth, MA. It even sails occasionally! It was amazing to see this not-very-big ship and know that more than 100 people, and their livestock, sailed across the Atlantic all jammed into it. Incredible.

I saw this house while out geocaching yesterday and I just had to take a picture to show to a certain someone I know that has a thing for lighthouses.

I'm late, but here's Tuesday's Phototime of: Back to School.

My favorite part of going back to school in the fall was always going and getting school supplies. I could (and still can!) spend hours in office supply type stores without any difficulty.

I left it on the charger last night and it looked normal, this afternoon I grabbed it on my way out the door to work and it looked like this. I think something just might be wrong with it. Grrr!

My parents were visiting last week and on Saturday we went to see some of the sights in Plymouth. Didn't even think of what the date was. We were getting off the Mayflower II and heading for the car when a parade started to pass.

A certain half-elf was talking about an author and his upcoming movie. And lo and behold when I went to a movie last night... there it was on my popcorn bag! And of course I just had to snap a picture!

For i-gizmo: Wednesday on the way to dance I spent an entire hour behind these red lights. There was an accident about a mile before my exit so the trip that normally takes 45 minutes took at least an hour and a half. I was really sick of brake lights by the time I got there!

My first foray into Macro Mania... I just can't resist an opportunity to take some macro shots! I've had this strange, or odd, or wonderful little thing for quite a few years. I think I got him on a family vacation to Door County in Wisconsin, but I don't really remember. Here he is in any event!

A day late, but for Photo Tuesday... a Habit of mine is the keys on the hook next to the door. My keys have to go on the hook the second I enter the apartment. Otherwise... I lose them!

A little Lensday action a day late. Some old rusted metal that came out of the inside of the building at work. There's massive remodeling happening at work so there's been lots of fun and interesting picture stuff hanging around. These were some sort of metal grids, some sort of support thing maybe? I don't really know. They just looked cool.

Trying out a new meme that's all about macros! And we all know I love me some macros. So for MacroDay I have some intricate cross-stitch. Just for some perspective, this particular project is on 18-count fabric which means there's 18 stitches per inch, or 324 stitches in a square inch.

For Pxite, a reflective collection of movies. And it works for this week's Thursday Challenge too! How about that. Not only are they reflective movies, they're good entertainment as well!

And because I thought it looked interesting... the same shot, but flipped.

I was behind this car on the way to work yesterday. Don't worry, we were at a very long light when I snapped this.

I love fog! It takes a lot of experimenting, but it looks really cool when it turns out right!

I realize this doesn't make a lot of sense to anyone but me, but when confronted by the Chinese Soup Spoon, one just has to take it's picture!

I am completely blaming Wendy for this.

As I don't drink this was a rather odd object to find in my fridge! A certain someone left it in my fridge when she moved and now I haven't the faintest idea what to do with the thing!

This is one of those 3-D puzzles (a globe obviously) It was a fun puzzle to put together, but they make it waaaaaay too easy to cheat! Each piece has a number on the "wrong" side and starting at the South Pole with "1" it spirals all the way up and around until you have the whole puzzle. I did not use the numbers!

This showed up in my mailbox yesterday. It's an advance copy (otherwise known as an "ARC") for a book that won't be out until September. And it's signed! Squeeee!

I read the book before it a couple months back and wrote a little thing for it for the book blog. Last week I got a comment on the entry from the author who offered to send me the ARC for the next book! How cool is that?!?! And so completely unexpected!
