Miles and Miles

It's still Tuesday (barely) so here's my PhotoTime submission. The theme this week is: Curves

They're building a brand spanking new control room at work so there's wires and blueprints and new consoles and a new board! all over the place. This green stuff was stretched all through the hallway the other day.

April 27, 2004

Foggy Reflection

I snapped this on the way home tonight. I had a couple with a sharper focus, but I like the softness of this one better.

April 28, 2004

Spring Bee

A little Phototime today. The theme is: It's a Spring Thing!

I left work for my dinner break and this big pink flowering bush was outside. I just had to stop and play for a few minutes. The bees were enjoying it too!

More Flowers

These are from a tree that had tons of these tiny white blossoms on it.

April 29, 2004

Blue and Red Make

A little Theme Thursday action this morning. The theme is: Purple

An Experiment

I've been on a roll the last couple days! Now for some Photo Friday picture snapping. The challenge is: Natural

It rained today, these are on the tree outside my living room window. The screen in that window has never really fit right, and now I'm glad since it makes it a lot easier to get it out so I can take a decent picture.

May 3, 2004

Things That Make You Go Hmmmm....

I thought it was a little odd that these two buildings are right next to each other. With nothing else really nearby. The closest thing is a restaurant at the other end of the parking lot.

May 5, 2004

I had a hard time finding an appropriate picture for this one, (which is why I'm posting on Wednesday instead of Tuesday!) I finally went with a couple shots I already had in my "arsenal."

The Phototime theme this week is: Cargo

Inspecting the cargo before takeoff and...

Unloading the cargo!

May 6, 2004

Curly Cues

And some Theme Thursday posting now. The theme is: Twisted

This would be my hair after it gets wet. Very twisted!

May 7, 2004

Follow the Leader

Having fun with Photo Friday today. The challenge this week is: Play

These girls just wanted to play with the "ducks." I'm not sure if the parents were just playing along and not wanting to correct the kids or what, but apparently giant black, grey, and white birds are "ducks."

Despite signs to the contrary everyone, including the security guys feed the geese. So when the kids went off with their parents (and a few suspiciously food like bags!) these guys followed right behind.

May 10, 2004

Left Behind

Methinks that someone didn't want to finish their treat.

May 11, 2004

The sun tonight. There was just the right amount of clouds so that you could actually look at the sun. Very cool.

Fun With Textures

For Phototime this week the theme is: Simplicity

I had a hard time coming up with something creative today, so we've got fun with macros and textures!

May 12, 2004

Summer Time

You know it's getting warmer out when ice cream becomes the norm and the walk-up window is open at the local ice cream place. This was from Newport Creamery which has a restaurant all of 2 blocks from work. We've already been there twice in the past 5 days.

May 14, 2004

There's a little farm/zoo thing in the park near my house. This gal was a most cooperative photo subject!

May 16, 2004

Robin Red-Breast

Driving in to work today I passed this guy just sitting in the middle of the road not moving at all. I had a sparrow hit my car once that acted the same way and the wildlife rehab people said to just put it in a box in a quiet place and let it recover for a couple hours and it'd be fine. So I quickly stopped my car, got out, and gathered up this little feather bundle. He didn't move at all when I went to grab him. So I found a box with some help from Slightly Surly Tape Guy and let him be for a few hours. I went to check on him and he was standing up and acting normally. I tried to get him out of the box, but he flew out! Definately feeling better ;) Once I caught him I took a couple pictures of him sitting on my desk and then took him outside, where he hopped across the parking lot and then took off.

Spheres... Well, Squished Spheres Anyway

Some Geometric Shapes for this week's Phototime.

Saw these at the grocery store the other day and just couldn't resist. Who knew they'd be good for a photo meme too!

May 21, 2004

I'm Ready for My Close Up!

Photo Friday's challenge this week is: Macro

Waaaaay too much fun with this theme!

And because I couldn't resist, a slightly more standard macro shot:

May 25, 2004

What're You Lookin' At?

So I'm incredibly late with this week's Theme Thursday. I was having major Photoshop issues and finally got them fixed. This week (or last week's) theme is: Frame

A chain-link framed chicken!

Wet and Wild

Checked today's Phototime before I went to work. This week is: Liquid

The sprinklers just happened to go haywire at work today creating a perfect chance for some meme-taking.

May 28, 2004

Ribbit, Welcome Home, Ribit

This guy was all set up to welcome me home when I walked into the "guest room" at home.

May 30, 2004

Black and White China

As usual I'm late with my Photo Friday-ing.

This week's challenge is: Black & White

And the original color version too.

May 31, 2004

Fuzzy Face

My uncle's cat Dory. We were over for dinner tonight and I just couldn't resist.

Since massive amounts of Geocaching is going on while I'm home I needed to stock up on the little frogs I leave in caches. So a side trip to Michael's was included in today's searching (and finding!) of 5 caches.

Syn took this one, not me, being that I'm in the picture and everything.

Here's one that was left in a cache Saturday night.

June 1, 2004

For PhotoTime.

It's just wrong that I let this thing bite me just so I could take it's picture.

June 2, 2004

That's Just Wrong!

I probably could have used this one for the "wrong" theme as well. Is it pure water? Or is it a dump station? It's both!

June 4, 2004

For Theme Thursday. This little gadget is indispensible when geocaching.

June 5, 2004

For Photo Friday.

The landscape of an ant!

June 8, 2004

Above the Cotton

The sun setting while I was above the clouds in the plane on the way back to RI. Very cool!

June 26, 2004

My Visitor

I started putting birdseed out on the ledge outside my living room window a couple weeks ago. I now have a pair of sparrows that are regulars as well as at least one squirrel. This guy is the bravest and so far has been the only one that I've gotten a good picture of. Hopefully his wife will calm down soon so I can snap her picture too. :)

July 6, 2004

Some flowers out back at work.

July 9, 2004

Extracuricular Moth Activities

I was in the middle of posting this when I realized it worked for today's Photo Friday! I thought it was really cool when I stumbled across these guys in the midst of enjoying themselves. ;) Although, I wonder if something with a brain as primative as a moth's would really have a concept of "enjoying" anything... Well, it was certainly cool to see at any rate! At least I thought so.

Another pretty flower. This one reminds me of those ultraviolet pictures of flowers in science books. The ones that are supposedley what the insects see (or something like it anyway!)

July 30, 2004

I saw this car on the other side of the freeway while I was out and about yesterday. The smoke was visible from quite a ways back. Luckily it looked like everyone got out ok.

July 31, 2004

A Railroad Perspective

Just some tracks I was walking along while hunting for a cache on Thursday morning. It was all warm and misty and the tracks looked like they went on forever until disappearing into mist.

August 1, 2004

All Tied Up

A few of the many ropes all over the Mayflower II. It's a reproduction of the original Mayflower that's docked in Plymouth, MA. It even sails occasionally! It was amazing to see this not-very-big ship and know that more than 100 people, and their livestock, sailed across the Atlantic all jammed into it. Incredible.

August 5, 2004

Geocaching Buddy

Found this little guy while geocaching today. Little bitty toads are cool!

A Question

If a person needs the picture menu, doesn't that imply they can't read? So then how would they know to ask for it at the window?

August 10, 2004

Glowing Gazebo

Trying to do a little meme'ing today. The phototime for today is: Late Night

One of the gazebos in Roger Williams Park in Providence at night. I've only been to the park twice so far, but the little I've seen of it I really like.

August 11, 2004

Man of the Cloth

The man playing the part of the pastor at Plimouth Plantation. He was quite impressive! Talked to us for quite awhile about which translation of the Bible he was using (they used the Geneva one, not the KJV) He was really interesting to talk to. At the moment I can't find the name of the real guy he was portraying, but I'll keep hunting and once I do I'll post it.

Update: I think I found him. If I'm reading all the stuff I've found correctly, the real guy's name was William Brewster.

August 12, 2004

Brighten Up the Space

One of the morning guys has a huge flower garden at home and over the past week he's been bringing in some of them. This one's mine! Absolutely beautiful flowers all over the station.

August 17, 2004

1... 2... 3... Jump!

For Phototime. It takes some action to get back in the pond.

August 20, 2004

The Tree That Ate Syn

This was taken while I was back home on vacation at the beginning of the summer. Syn and I were geocaching and there was one hidden in this tree. The shot ended up looking really goofy though!

Fun With Rain

Just experimenting with looking through the windshield while it's raining.

August 28, 2004

Watch the Birdie!

Someone ended up on top of one of the cupboards in the kitchen today. Don't worry, I wasn't cooking or anything. Fids are not allowed free flight when cooking is going on!

August 29, 2004

So Many Colors!

I'm late, but here's Tuesday's Phototime of: Back to School.

My favorite part of going back to school in the fall was always going and getting school supplies. I could (and still can!) spend hours in office supply type stores without any difficulty.

For Phototime, this week is: Pets. Is he a Momma's bunny or what? ;) This has become his new favorite thing to jump on and around and over...

September 1, 2004

She's Blushing!

For WordPhoto which I just discovered yesterday. Today is: Orange

I think this is the best picture I've ever taken of Miss Mione. She is so incredibly hard to photograph!

September 5, 2004

The Classics

My first i-gizmo submission for: Car. I'm not sure which model Ford this is. All I know is it's old and quite cool!

September 6, 2004

Not Good

I left it on the charger last night and it looked normal, this afternoon I grabbed it on my way out the door to work and it looked like this. I think something just might be wrong with it. Grrr!

September 8, 2004

Some Cheap Cheepers

For Moody Monday:

I don't like how cheap these guys are. It makes them disposable pets and that's not cool.

September 16, 2004

A Room with a View

I'm horribly behind with my photo-memeing, so here's an attempt to catch up a little bit!

For last saturday's i-gizmo: One of the windows of the Mayflower II.

For the Thursday Challenge: Emotion

My parents were visiting last week and on Saturday we went to see some of the sights in Plymouth. Didn't even think of what the date was. We were getting off the Mayflower II and heading for the car when a parade started to pass.

A Saintly Submission

For i-gizmo... While my parents were visiting and we were working our way along the Freedom Trail in Boston, we came across this old statue of St. Francis of Assisi that was showing it's age.

I'm Melting... Melting!!!

For Moody Monday: A bunch of mixed up colors.

Sun Worshipper

For Phototime: one of my most frequent models relaxing in the sun in the middle of a geocaching road trip at the beginning of this summer.

Irish Feet Are Smiling

Experimenting with my camera at dance class tonight. This isn't quite the shot I want just yet, but it's headed towards it. I'm going to have to try again in a couple weeks.

Introducing Talitha

Or Tali for short. She joined the Sunidesus household last Wednesday (the 15th if anyone's counting) That puts her at about 9 weeks right now. She's a mini-lop with a little bit of what appears to be angora so she's very fluffy!

And for the curious folks out there... "Talitha" means "little girl" in Aramaic. I found it on a site that has a huge list of Biblical names. So there you have it!

September 29, 2004

Up, Up, and Away

For wordPhoto: a plane waiting for it's turn at O'Hare. Took forever to get a straight on shot. I ended up with a lot of slightly off center shots before I got this one!

Way Back When

For Phototime... The beginnings of the colonization of America. Plymouth Rock.

Desk Surprise

These were waiting for me on my desk at work on Monday. Wonderful surprise! The vase was originally a juice bottle of some sort, and now it's in the middle of being decoupaged. It still needs another coat or two, but I needed a vase so that's going to have to wait!

Unfortunate Popcorn

A certain half-elf was talking about an author and his upcoming movie. And lo and behold when I went to a movie last night... there it was on my popcorn bag! And of course I just had to snap a picture!

The Dying of the Light

One of the flowers I got at work a week ago has looked so interesting as it's started to die that I just had to take a picture of it. Something about the change in the colors from the outside to the inside as it drys out really interests me.

Such a Blue

I was going to post this one anyway, but it also works for the Photo Friday this week! I love it when I'm flipping through a bunch of new pictures on my computer and find one that's unexpectedly turned out well!

The View From Behind

For i-gizmo: Wednesday on the way to dance I spent an entire hour behind these red lights. There was an accident about a mile before my exit so the trip that normally takes 45 minutes took at least an hour and a half. I was really sick of brake lights by the time I got there!

October 17, 2004

Long Legs

This thing was hanging out in my apartment last night when I got home from work. It's at least 3 inches across. All leg though, the body is really tiny. Very weird bug!

October 18, 2004

The Most Colorful Time of the Year

For wordPhoto: The picture taking opportunities seem endless in autumn. And I love it!

Leaping Lizards

My first foray into Macro Mania... I just can't resist an opportunity to take some macro shots! I've had this strange, or odd, or wonderful little thing for quite a few years. I think I got him on a family vacation to Door County in Wisconsin, but I don't really remember. Here he is in any event!

October 26, 2004

What're You Looking At?

Caught on the windowsill of my apartment. Gotta love somewhat tame animals that've been bribed with food!

October 29, 2004

Now that's a relaxed bunny! And I just have to say that I love the healing brush in Photoshop! The original of this picture had some camera stuff and a mirror on the floor next to her. I like it much better this way ;)

November 6, 2004

Hewo-o! My name is Samantha and Suni just adopted me! I'm a complete cuddle bug and just want you to scritch my head. I'm a Lesser Sulpher Crested Cockatoo and I'm 18 years old. I lived with one family for all that time and they traveled all over the world with me. But they realized they didn't have enough time so they decided to give me up. Now Suni has taken me home and I'm sure we'll have lots of fun together!

Snooze Time

A good portion of the day around here is spent like this. Of course they're crepuscular little creatrues so they're only hyper first thing in the morning, and then again at night. But they are just so gosh darn adorable when they're sleeping!

Forward Looking

For i-gizmo: December 1st, this time of year everyone in television is looking forward to that date. The day "The Book" ends.

December 4, 2004

Yeah, I know. All I've been posting lately are critter pictures. But who could resist such cute little bundles of fluff?

Where Does This Go?

The new favorite playtoy... I've now been leaving my "coasters" on the floor for her to play with. She's a riot.

The New Arrival

Here's the new arrival. I need to come up with a name for him because if I can't find the owner I have a feeling he'll be staying. Much too sweet of a birdie to give up!

I'm working on writing his whole story (that I know anyway!) over at the Zoo. But I just had to get a picture up before I did anything else.

What's in There?

I finished a box of cereal the other day. The box ended up on the floor. And Tali ended up inside! She discovered that there were yummy crumbs left in there. And who can resist taking a picture of a cute little bunny butt sticking out of a box like that? I certainly can't!

March 11, 2005

Bunny Blogging

I was trying to take a cute Easter picture of Miss Tali yesterday. She wasn't very cooperative! So I ended up with lots of pictures like these, and only one slightly useable one. Oh well, she's cute anyway!

And of course it works for the Friday Ark too.

Settling In

And the little blue birdie now has a name, Shirin, and he's settling in quite well. He particularly likes hanging out on the bookshelves!

Former Suckers

I just had to contribute something to the invertebrates of the Friday Ark this week. This one might even count as "Didn't Make It" since it's a dead one that's a decoration in my bathroom!

March 18, 2005

Dinner Guest

Because how can you resist taking pictures of something that cute perched right outside your window?

Plus, it's Friday and time for the Ark!

By Request

The bunny rolled over on her back. Although Benjamin is the one that's hilarious when he rolls over, but that's more of a video thing and Tali is much easier to photograph. She's just a tad more cooperative!

And it's Friday which is the perfect critter picture posting excuse.

April 6, 2005

Hanging Out

A day late, but for Photo Tuesday... a Habit of mine is the keys on the hook next to the door. My keys have to go on the hook the second I enter the apartment. Otherwise... I lose them!

April 8, 2005

Blue on Green

Now that Shirin has joined the rest of the Zoo she's finding all kinds of interesting places to perch! And no I don't know what I was watching. I think that might be a commercial.

Identity Unknown

OK, I'm assuming this guy isn't native to Rhode Island, and I can't find him in my bird guide. So, I'm hoping someone out there (visitors from the Ark maybe?) can help me out. He looks kinda like a duck. But is bigger, more the size of a Canadian Goose. But with a shorter neck. Any ideas?

May 5, 2005

A little Lensday action a day late. Some old rusted metal that came out of the inside of the building at work. There's massive remodeling happening at work so there's been lots of fun and interesting picture stuff hanging around. These were some sort of metal grids, some sort of support thing maybe? I don't really know. They just looked cool.

Up in the Sky!

For the Thursday Challenge: something found up in the sky that I'm very happy to have finally figured out how to photograph decently!

Lights, Camera....

I managed to get a two-fer with this one. Something for the Ark and for Photo Friday! So we have one of the bunnies favorite actions, grooming!

Happy Mother's Day!

More Please!

Treat time for the Tali-meister! And Friday Ark time for the rest of us!

Post Doctor

I'm a day late for this one, but oh well. For the Thursday Challenge we have some yellow flowers, with red ones in the background. I'm not really sure what they are. They sort of look like tulips, but the petals aren't quite right I don't think. But then again I'm not very good with flowers so I don't really know what they are. But they're pretty so I like 'em!

Oh, and the post title is 'cuz these were outside the place where my doctor's office is and the last time I went it was such a nice day that I wandered around taking pictures after my appointment.

May 16, 2005

Do Not Enter

Some Monday Moodiness found around the building at work. A forbidden area upstairs. (not that that stops us from poking around and seeing what's going on anyway)

ETA: Whoops! Apologies to Moody Monday readers. I didn't realize that pinging would add my link and added it manually as well. Sorry for the double posting!

May 23, 2005

Tiny Stitches

Trying out a new meme that's all about macros! And we all know I love me some macros. So for MacroDay I have some intricate cross-stitch. Just for some perspective, this particular project is on 18-count fabric which means there's 18 stitches per inch, or 324 stitches in a square inch.

June 9, 2005

I'm Ready for My Closeup

I found this little guy on the trunk of my car the other day. And of course I had to take his picture. How could I not? I did a little caterpillar identification sleuthing and it would seem that he is a tent caterpillar. The nests of which I find very icky! But he's sure cute when he's not inside of one!

July 1, 2005

Even though I'm on vacation I felt like doing a little meme work today... so for the Thursday Challenge we have a container for wine. (I tried it, I'll stick with Coke thanks!)

A Little Fuzzy One

For a rather late Photo Tuesday I have some very young urban wildlife. This little guy was hanging out with Mom (behind him) and Dad and two siblings at this little lake I pass over every day on my way to and from work. The adults are all very used to people and will stop traffic if they want to cross the road! I'm very curious as to what these three will look like when they grow up, Mom is a domestic white goose while Dad is a Canadian goose. Should be interesting!

And hey, it's Friday now so this'll work for the Friday Ark too!

Roy G. Biv

So clearly I'm in a meme-posting mood tonight! Here are some colorful peppers that have been crossposted at WordPhoto.

July 13, 2005

Bug Buffet

It would seem I really need to post something on this here re-designed photoblog. So for a rather belated MacroDay we have a moth perched on a yellow flower. I'm almost positive it's a daisy, white petals around a yellow middle.

July 15, 2005

I'm All Wet!

It's Friday and we all know what that means! Time for the Friday Ark! So... here's Miss Samantha drying off after a shower.

Ribbit! Ribbit!

Another for the Friday Ark. I ran into this guy while I was home on vacation at the end of June. He was living, quite happily, in a pond at a garden center/greenhouse. I tried to get a video of him croaking, but of course whenever I hit record he stopped. So you'll just have to imagine while you look at the still shot of him!

July 19, 2005

It's Humid!

This is a multi-purpose shot! When it's hot out and the heat and humidity get crazy, this is what happens to my hair!

For WordPhoto and a very belated Thursday Challenge

July 20, 2005

For PXITE: a little behind the scenes media. Oh come on, what else were you expecting from me for this theme?

For Macro Day, the perpetually broken still store. The thing is broken more often than it's working, which of course makes life interesting when a show is as graphics intensive as ours is.

For Lensday, I love the constant chatter and sounds of these guys. There's something about that soft muttering quack that they always keep up; I just love it.

July 23, 2005

Missing a Furbaby

When I woke up today around 2 and wandering out into the zoo the Tali Bug was laying on the floor right outside the door to the bunny house. She looked a little goofy so I kinda giggled at her and asked her what she was doing. Usually this gets a response.

When I bent down to pet her she didn't wake up.

At some point today before I woke up (I'm thinking around noon-ish) something happened to my fuzzy bundle of silly. I have no idea what. Last night when I got up around 1 to go to the bathroom she hopped her little self in to see what I was doing, just like she always does. did. Acting totally normal, eating, drinking, all the usually bunny stuff.

And now she's gone.

I figured it was only appropriate to post a picture of her doing one of her favorite things, munching on some lettuce and carrots. And her other favorite thing, snuggling with her man.

July 29, 2005

The Multi-Racial Family

I passed the inter-racial goose family the other day and figured it was about time for an update on the little guys. There were originally three goslings, but something must have happened to one of them because the last few times I've seen them there's been just two babies. They sure do grow fast!

A couple more, because they're so hard to resist!

Don't forget to visit the Ark for more animal goodness. And don't forget the Blogathon either! There's lots of good animal related charities that need your support.

Windshield Daredevil

This little guy hitched a ride on my windshield last night. He was such a pretty green that I just had to take his picture. (I used the headlight for my light source)

Don't forget the Ark, or the Blogathon!

Tide Pool Discovery

On Monday the 'rents and I went down to the ocean, and low tide makes for lots of fun for Suni! Lots of tide pools in which to play and find interesting things! Like this starfish. I'm assuming the little red dot is some kind of sense organ, both of the starfish I found had one. Here's the close up!

Watching it work on turning itself over was amazing. All those little feet flailing around!

Update: The little dot isn't a sense organ, it's part of the vascular/water system that starfish use to move! Thanks to my dad for hunting down the answer.

What's Up There?

On Tuesday we went to Roger Williams Zoo, I hadn't been yet and it was a nice day for doing something outside. It surprised me and was actually a fairly decent zoo. This sandhill crane was quite interested in something up above our heads. Couldn't find whatever it was he was looking at though!

So do birds seen in a zoo count on a person's life list?

Don't forget to check out the Friday Ark for all your critter viewing pleasure.

These are the fur-babies of a co-worker. They'll be staying with me for the next few days/week-ish. Until he finds a new apartment basically. They grey tabby is May, the calico is Cleo. They're fun and I'm loving having them here!

Window Gazer

Cleo is ready for her close up!

Don't Look at Me!

Why are you using that flashy box thing again!

All Curled Up

May has discovered that my feather pillows make a very good nap spot!

They're going home to their daddy tomorrow, so I have to get a couple more kitty pictures in before that!

A New Friend

If you haven't seen him before, Benjamin is the little Netherland Dwarf on the left, and his new girlfriend is a black beauty named Magic. I've already started calling her "Magi" so I think that's gonna stick. She's 7 or 8ish pounds and estimated to be around 2 years old.

We tried a couple other bunnies first and there's some not so great pictures of that "below the fold" as it were.

I was behind this car on the way to work yesterday. Don't worry, we were at a very long light when I snapped this.

Tight Fit

I've finally decided on a name for this gal, I'm going with "Dahlia". I never thought she'd try to get in one of these things, but she did! She fills up the entire inside, I have no idea how she turns around in there to get her nose facing out again!

An important part of the bunny bonding process. Grooming! For the most part Dally is the one in charge so she gets groomed whenever she says, but Benjamin is now asking to be groomed too. Today I caught them in some kind of "who gets groomed first" duel. They were both trying to get their head under the other, made me giggle!

Don't forget to visit all the other animals now boarding at the Ark!

Stormy Weather

I took this Sunday on my way to work in the midst of the "blizzard".

It's Benjamin vs. the Banana Skin!

Don't forget to visit all the other critters at the Ark!

This is Abby Normal, the very hyper 9 month old chocolate lab of one of the female anchors at work. I took a ton of pictures of her, this is one of the only ones in which she's sitting still! There were just so many things to smell and people to greet and what's going on over there?

As always, don't forget about the Ark!

Gettin' Crafty

One of the other gals on the Sweet Binks Yahoo Group linked to this cute little knit bunny pattern and it seemed pretty straightforward so I decided to give it a shot! It isn't exactly perfect, but for a very first try at a toy type thing it's not too bad.

And here's it's cute little butt too!

It's Better This Way!

Benjamin seems to think that figuring out how to get up and into the hay rack is the best way to enjoy dinner.

Don't forget to visit the Ark! for all kinds of critter viewing goodness!

Coot! Coot!

It's not a very good picture, but it's only the second Coot I've ever seen and it's Friday and that's as good an excuse for posting a critter photo as any!

I love fog! It takes a lot of experimenting, but it looks really cool when it turns out right!

April 14, 2006

Kieran seems to have the ability to close his eyes every single time I take a picture of him. He also likes yogurt!

And I couldn't leave out Aidan! It took him awhile, but he finally doesn't hide from me anymore when I go over to Keva's apartment!

Easter Greetings

I know it isn't a typical Easter photo, but it works for me. It's re-birth.

And since I haven't been able to spend Easter with my family for a number of years, it seemed appropriate to spend it outdoors enjoying His wonderful creation.

A Cocoon of Unknown Origins

I haven't the faintest idea what this is, Keva and I found it while out caching. I'm hoping someone at the Ark can help me out! There were a coupld of them that we saw. It was maybe an inch across. I'm assuming something was inside, but I wasn't about to break it open!

Any ideas?

Update: Thanks to the extremely helpfull bug-dude at What's That Bug I now know it is a praying mantis egg case! How cool!

Look, but Don't Touch!

Keva and I went geocaching last weekend and one of the caches had a colony of feral cats. There's a lady that cares for them apparently, but they definately aren't house cats! Their body language was so completely different than house cats.

Don't miss the Friday Ark!

Believe it or not, those are Monk Parakeets. In Warwick, Rhode Island! All of my Ark entries this week are from geocaching trips. Heh. We were coming back towards the car after finding one and heard something scolding us from a tree. Keva saw them first and did the "What the...?" There aren't supposed to be green birds in Rhode Island! Somehow these little guys are able to survive the winters here and it totally made my day to see them!

Boneless Wonder

Another geocaching discovery. It's an itty bitty jellyfish! There was a second one nearby that was bigger, but my pictures of it turned out like orange blobs so baby jellyfish pictures it is!

Here's the top view too:

And a bonus... jellyfish in action! (right click, save-target-as, please!)

Creepy Crawly

Someone found this guy crawling around at work last night. No idea what it is. But it's a bug and it's nifty!

October 14, 2006

Whoo! That was an incredibly fun day! And normally I take loads of pictures (and of much better quality than these! These aren't my best work!) but there was so much yarn! And so many Knittyheads to talk to! And Woot!!! Yeah, it was a good time. However, there is zero chance I'm going to get names right so if you see yourself, say hey in the comments.

I'm starting with the Yarn Pr0n!

My haul from Webs. A massive cone of cotton for 10 bucks, sock yarn of two varieties I haven't tried before. In the front there's my major splurge on the left (Schaeffer Anne) and one ball each of Rowan Wool Cotton and Felted Tweed. And in the back are two sets of bamboo circulars sizes 0 & 1. I just discovered I'm alergic to my KP needles so something that's not metal for sock knitting made me very happy!

And what I grabbed in Grafton (Classic Yarns right folks?) Some Cascade for punkin's, more sock yarn; there was only the one ball of the colorway I fell in love with, but I have tiny feet so no biggie. It works, I just have to be careful. And in the front are four cute little buttons, sheep, bunny, frog, penguin.

Help Me!

This thing was buzzing around at work last night and I think it must have been sick or something because it didn't fly away while I was harrassing it.

Just Because

I realize this doesn't make a lot of sense to anyone but me, but when confronted by the Chinese Soup Spoon, one just has to take it's picture!

Fun with Kool-Aid!

I've been wanting to try this combination for a while and I finally got off my butt and did it! It started out with a sunset and went from there. I used Wilton's instead of Kool-Aid for the purple and it makes a much nicer purple! The Kool-Aid purple is so grey, I'll definitely be using this purple from now on.

The colors are: Lemonade, Pineapple, Orange, Watermelon Cherry, Wilton's purple, and Ice Blue Raspberry.

Stick it To Me

I am completely blaming Wendy for this.

If you're really really curious, there's a bigger version of the file here (pops)

May 19, 2007

There was a wool fair down in Bristol today and I went. I figured it'd be a nice small first wool festival for me! There was a "children's tent" where they had drop spindles made with CD's to play with (there was other stuff in there too, but the spindles were the only part I really looked at) They had little bags with a CD drop spindle and some wool (that's the white stuff on the left) for 3 bucks. I finally caved. I've been resisting the whole spinning thing for ages. And I bought the blue roving as something pretty for inspiration. The seller has an etsy store here.

I did mange to resist buying the most adorable baby angora bun. So tiny! So cute!

May 24, 2007

There's a movie shooting in Providence this week with Katherine Heigl and since I had yesterday off I figured I'd go check it out. They weren't actually shooting outside, but the actors were starting outside and walking in the door. So we'd see them for a bit, they'd go in, and then we wouldn't see anything for a while. It was cool.

I only took a few pictures, this one was the clearest.

May 29, 2007

This would be what I bought at Mass Sheep & Wool this past weekend. That's 4 oz. of merino/tencel fiber in the front from the Sheep Shed. There's a skein of Spunky Eclectic sock yarn. I tend to be nervous about buying yarn on-line that I haven't seen in person, so I was very excited to see it and I bought some 'cuz it's purty! I also bought a real spindle from her. The blue that's on the spindle is from the roving I bought at the RI S&W a week ago. The real spindle works soooo much better than the CD one!

Robin Babys

This little guys are hanging out at work. I haven't seen Mom & Dad, but other people at work have. One of them flapped his little wing while I was taking pictures, they're so scrawny and adorable!

March 17, 2008

I realized yesterday while talking to my best bud that I haven't been doing a lot of the on-line stuff that I used to do all the time. And I miss it. I haven't messed around with my camera in ages. I decided it's high time I work on participating again. So I picked a photomeme to work on today.

And so here we have Macro Day whose theme this week is keys. Being the TV geek that I am I went with the switcher version of a key.

eta: My apologies... it appears my comments have broken. I'm not exactly sure what's wrong with them. Everything seems to be where it's supposed to be... hopefully I'll be able to figure it out soon!

eta #2: All better! There was a random line of code that needed an absolute path instead of a relative one. It's always been relative in the past so I'm not sure what it's problem was but it's working now so no worries!

Left Behind

For Photo Friday a found object.

As I don't drink this was a rather odd object to find in my fridge! A certain someone left it in my fridge when she moved and now I haven't the faintest idea what to do with the thing!

I'm Melting......

It's another Macro Day shot. This one is for temperature.

For the Thursday Challenge: furniture.

Seems like a kind of strange place to keep one's sofa...

Take One and Call Me in the Morning

For Photo Friday: emotions

It amazes me that such tiny little things can affect something as complicated as how a person feels and reacts.

For Photo Hunt: high.

This is one of the bridges across the Charles River in Boston.

Around the World

For Macro Day: round
And it works for See It Sunday too 'cuz it's a map

This is one of those 3-D puzzles (a globe obviously) It was a fun puzzle to put together, but they make it waaaaaay too easy to cheat! Each piece has a number on the "wrong" side and starting at the South Pole with "1" it spirals all the way up and around until you have the whole puzzle. I did not use the numbers!

June 7, 2008

This showed up in my mailbox yesterday. It's an advance copy (otherwise known as an "ARC") for a book that won't be out until September. And it's signed! Squeeee!

I read the book before it a couple months back and wrote a little thing for it for the book blog. Last week I got a comment on the entry from the author who offered to send me the ARC for the next book! How cool is that?!?! And so completely unexpected!
