Sunidesus Sees

Now that I have everything working, time to post some pictures. It is a photoblog after all. So without further ado, two pictures that I took last night. Both are very long exposures taken at night.

I was wandering around and decided to stop and take a picture of my old high school mascot. He's "Old Abe" the Civil War eagle. He came from my area of Wisconsin and was the mascot for a Civil War regiment from our state.

This is a church in my city, I don't attend it but it has a lovely stained glass window that's lit up for a few hours every night.

Nothing horribly exciting, just my car.

I went to the eye doctor today (well, yesterday really) and ended up with VERY large pupils.

Since I have a PhotoBlog now, I'm going to participate in my first Theme Thursday today! This is my boy Dolce enjoying a bath. When he takes a bath he goes nuts. He can spray water over an entire room. He's quite enthusiastic!

My old glasses, and my new glasses. I just picked them up today (well, technically yesterday). The new ones are the smaller ones. I'm practically blind without them, after this last trip to the eye doctor my eyes are now at 20/600. You know the big E on the eye test chart? It doesn't even exist for me.

IWTB was kind enough to drive me to the airport and I decided to try to capture the passing lights at 5 a.m.

There were "character actors" there as well as the big stars. Here's two of them. Brian Thompson is first. He was the Bounty Hunter on X-Files and since IWTB is a tad obsessed with the X-Files I got an autograph from him, for her. This picture is him, me, and the picture he signed for IWTB. And before you say anything... yes I know I look like a dork.

So, I'm walking along one of the tables and looking at the pictures and saw some Farscape pictures. They were all of Zhaan. Then I looked up and Zhaan was sitting RIGHT THERE! OK, really she was Virginia Hey. I had no idea she was going to be there, so that was quite exciting! She was really sweet and signed a beautiful picture for me.

These palms (at least I think that's what they were) were right outside my hotel.

I had a 2 hour layover in Vegas on my way home. Sittin' there playing with my laptop and looked up and noticed a really cool reflection happening on the window. There were multiple layers of glass and that made it kind of echo. I thought it was cool anyway.

I hit my 1000th photo on my cool new digital camera in Phoenix on my way to the convention. It's nothing special, but since it's number 1000 I decided to post it!

I just got my meds refilled and felt a little Artsy-Fartsy, so here's my meds! It may cost me $2/day (or per pill) but it's a small price to pay to stay sane.

This is my Theme Thursday entry. It's the sign that you're in Vegas. It was very strange. You walk off the plane and immediately hear the noises and dings and clanks of slot machines. They're everywhere, including all the terminals!

It sure seemed like we were out west today. We had these tumbleweed things all around the building at work. They started to collect right next to the door and we ended up with a pile at least 3 or 4 feet high of them just blowing around out there. And since I'm constantly taking pictures now... I took pictures of it!

Whenever I see one of these signs it makes me laugh. Maybe it's just my overactive imagination, but I always picture the driveway getting up and attacking something. Watch out! or the driveway will get ya! Yeah I know, I'm weird.

There are a number of white squirrels in my city, I saw one of them while doing errands today and just had to stop and take a few pictures of him.

The leaves are just starting to turn here. I'm going to have to go leaf peeping this weekend I think. Yes... it really is called leaf peeping!

I really enjoyed this week's Theme Thursday topic. I work at a TV station and am surrounded by technology every day. I bounce between three to four different computers, plus a video switcher all day. This particular picture was taken back in the equipment room. This is just one of three racks of equipment in the room. There's also a server room, a phone line/circuit breaker room, the weather equipment area, plus the controls for three satellite dishes, not to mention the control room itself which has LOTS more equipment. There are more pictures of work in my Photo Album and I'll probably be posting a few more of my theme pictures here in the next couple hours.

Well, that was a lot of verbage for a PHOTOblog!

This is just a small part of the phone system coming into our building. The number of wires just amazes me.

It's homecoming weekend at the local college. Just out of curiousity I decided to drive down Water St. (where all the bars are) to see just how many people were out. There were a LOT of drunk people. I took some pictures, 'cuz that's what I do!

This is the crowd outside one of the rowdier bars. I've never been inside it. (and don't plan to) The crowd was spilling into the street from most of the bars, but I like the way this one is sharp in some spots and all blurred in others.

My car was moving when I took this one, so it's all blurred, but I really like the way it looks. I'm not sure why. I guess it's my impression of what being drunk must feel like. I've never had any alcohol, so I don't know, but that's the way I imagine it.

We're open, open, open, open, open, open....

And of course what homecoming would be complete without the cops?

It's starting to get cold out and the ladybugs are trying to find warm places to stay. They've found my bedroom!

I had a wonderful day today. It was nice and cool, beautiful bright blue sky, a few little puffy white clouds. I spent more than 2 hours outside just taking pictures of everything changing. Beautiful!

This is Jocko. He's the weekend sports guy at work. I believe he was trying to be the 70's sports guy with this look.

This is my headset at work and the panel that controls it. Very important thing if you're the director! It does help to be able to talk to your crew after all :)

We had an open house at work today. Lots of people and lots of helium balloons. After everyone left we shoved them all into one little room and had fun!

IWTB got down and dirty with them.

So, I'm doing my Theme Thursday on a Friday. Ah well. This weeks theme is "Silly" so without further ado here is my silly frog blanket thing.

It was a present from IWTB. It's a medium sized blanket in the shape of a frog's body, with a giant stuffed frog head attached! I have a huge collection of frogs and he is by far the largest. You can see one of my other frogs on the right (it's little and quite round). Maybe someday I'll post pictures of more of my froggys.

It snowed today, for the first time this year. It stuck a little bit... on my car and on the grass. It isn't sticking on the sidewalk or the street just yet.

There, it's Monday. What? It isn't? Are you sure? Oh well, it was worth a try anyway.

Here's some pictures I took on Monday, but didn't have time to upload until Tuesday. I was having fun with long exposures while in a moving vehicle (a very BOUNCY moving vehicle!)

This one I flipped to negative in PhotoShop and really liked that way! So, I'm posting it.

I've never had any luck blowing bubble-gum bubbles. I just can't seem to get anything bigger than a tennis ball. But... IWTB can blow bubbles. I was trying to take a picture of one of her bigger ones, and ended up with this bubble in mid pop. I love the ragged edges where it's tearing.

This is the inside of one of those tubes that takes your money up and into the bank. I stuck my camera inside one and snapped away.

This little guy was making noise on the top of my air conditioner. When I stuck my head above the window sill to try to take his picture, he flew off. But, he landed just a few feet away on a wire coming into my apartment.

So I'm a little late with my Theme Thursday. Well, not that late, it's only one day after Thursday after all. Anyway... here is my porch in shadows.

I posted this over at Common Threads, but I liked it so much I decided to post it in my own space too! The driver's side mirror of my car. (don't worry I was stopped at a red light when I took the picture) The construction barrels are visible back there, Thankfully the 4+ months of construction is almost over!!!! WOOOOO!!!!

After a short "I'm sick and don't feel like doing anything" hiatus. I'm ba-ack! This is a picture I took, changed to black & white, added a single color to, and then added text to. It's patterned after an ad in a TV Technology magazine that I thought was really cool. So I decided to make my own with MY control room.

This is possibly the best road sign in the world.

My brother is home from college for the weekend. He's kind of a dork. My parents have a door stopper attached to the wall where the door knob hits the wall. It was making a huge dent, so they put this soft plastic rubbery thing on the wall there. My brother decided that he wanted to stick this thing to his forehead. What can I say, I come from a family of weirdos!

After he noticed me taking pictures, he decided to make a goofy face. The guy in the background is his friend Dave.

And once he took the thing off of his forehead he had a gigantic black and blue mark where it was. He's going to go back to school on Monday looking like he has an alien girlfriend who likes to suck his forehead!

My parents just got back from a trip to Japan. They were visiting missionaries and one of them gave them a couple packages of these things. I have no idea what they're called, but apparently they're a common snack over there. One of the missionary kids eats them constantly. Personally I have to say ICK! But, to each his own I guess. And yes, they really are little fishies.

Since my brother was home for the weekend, we decided to celebrate both of my parent's birthdays. My mom on Saturday, and my dad on Sunday. It technically isn't his birthday until the 8th, but since my bro was home we did it now. This is my dad before & during the candle blowing out. You can either try to count them, or trust me when I tell you that there are 54 candles on that cake.

I was driving from work to go vote and saw this hydrant gushing water. There wasn't anyone around, and it was too good to pass up!

I was a good girl and went to vote yesterday. I got a few strange looks while I was snapping pictures of the sign, but that's okay with me.

If anyone is horribly curious, I did indeed vote for the Green Party candidate for WI governor. The rest I hopped between the Dem's and the Republicans. I just couldn't bring myself to vote for either of the main party candidates. So I went with a third party candidate that I respect, like, and agree with on most of the issues.

Anyway... here's my pics for today.

This week's Theme Thursday is Babies. I've got two pictures for it. The first one is me and my feathered baby Dolce. Whenever I talk about him, I refer to him as "my baby" so he's quite applicable to this week's theme.

I didn't take this next picture, IWTB did. This is her neice Hannah. She was born June 19th at 1 lb. 12 ozs. She's up above 9 lbs. now but is still stuck at the hospital. IWTB and Hannah's mom Nikki went to visit on Halloween (very cute chilli pepper outfit pics to come) and they took my camera. So... Hannah is now part of my Theme Thursday!

The sat truck that we get to use every once in a while was at my station a few weeks ago. It had it's mast cam up.

Dan & Rachel Vendberg were commissioned as missionaries to Chad this morning at church.

I've not been feeling like taking pictures lately so I've been AWOL for the past week or so. But the meteor shower Monday night/Tuesday morning was an amazing opportunity. I didn't manage to capture any meteors, but I did get a couple of pictures that I think are pretty cool. The moon behind the clouds and a long exposure of the trees and the stars.

This week's Theme Thursday is collections. This was a very easy one for me, at least the idea was easy. The execution of said idea took me the past 2 hours!

I have a huge frog collection. (none of them are alive though) I photographed a handful of them, cut them out, and put them all together in one picture. There's the piano playing frog, the crystal frog, the frog pin, a few stuffed frogs, a frog container... I also have frog keychains, and wooden frogs, and frogs with suction cup feet, there's a frog blanket too. Not to mention the frog t-shirts and frog tote bag! The bowl with the frog in the middle I made back in high school in a pottery class.

When we went to cover a fire for work I took a bunch of pictures of it and my 2000th picture with my camera was among them. Here it is!

At the work Christmas party. This was after most of the people left, and there were just a handful of us left being goofy and messing around.

I took these the other night after work. It's amazing what you can do at night with a controllable shutter. For these I left my shutter open for 2 seconds and then bumped the levels just slightly in PhotoShop.

This is Syn's birdie Hermione. She usually gets called Mione though! Very cute, but a little spastic. (The bird, not Syn)

The pen was Karen's door prize at the company holiday party. But this isn't an everyday kind of pen. It's a vibrating pen! It came with an interesting diagram and instructions for where to use it to um... well... relieve stress. Remember this was a company party.

What happens when you're bored in a newsroom? You build things with the tapes!

This is what's left of the crab-apple tree that has been in my parents' back yard since we moved in when I was 3 or 4. I remember picking up the mooshy berries for a quarter a bucket (big money!) and getting yelled at for climbing it. And the delicious crabapple jelly my mom made. It was a very cool tree and every time I pull into the driveway now I miss it.

Now that I've got my photoblog up and running again, I'm going to start participating in this again. Here we go!

My little cousin Luke always makes people laugh.

These guys laughed all night. This is actually from New Years Eve.

And of course these pictures of my brother always make me laugh. He's such a goofball!

Miss Hannah is finally home from the hospital. Actually has been for a few weeks now. Syn went to visit last night and took this picture. What a cutie!

And there are more pictures in the works for her Photo Album too. I've got them re-sized, I just need to write the code and upload it. So check back later today for even more Hannah pictures!

Karen, Billy, and Jes. Billy is this really sweet guy who shows up at all the Special Olympics events. He knows all the people from the station and is just a really nice guy.

When it's high school tournament time there are always lots of vehicles driving around with messages on them. Especially on Sundays when the team is returning from state! I'm not sure which school or sport this one is for. Might be wrestling but I don't know for certain.

I can spend hours in libraries without any problem. I LOVE books!

Something to Look Forward to

I'm looking forward to finishing this...

I have one row of blocks left to add to this and then I can do the border and then figure out how to do the backing and stuffing. I've been working on it on and off for a very long time and now I can feel myself so close to being done and I'm all excited about it.

If anyone is interested it's all hand-pieced. Each block is a different blue fabric. It's a pattern called "Snowballs"

I walked into the bathroom at work and saw a huge mess and just had to take a picture!

Last night (or more acurately very early this morning) I finished the main part of my quilt! All the piecing is finished. I just have the border, backing, and stuffing to figure out. Anyone know how to quilt? Know what I should do next? Here's another picture just 'cuz I'm so gosh darn proud of myself.
